The island of Ortigia, a world heritage site and historic center of Syracuse, is a must to discover the beauty of Eastern Sicily.
The tour guide will take you to discover the history and monuments of Ortigia.
The itinerary starts from Ponte Umbertino which connects the island with the mainland.
Continuing to Via dell’Apollonion it will be possible to admire the remains of the Temple of Apollo, the oldest stone temple built by the Greeks in the West.
The guided tour will continue toward the center of the island passing through Piazza Archimede with its beautiful Fountain of Diana, the work of Giulio Moschetti.
After a short walk through the alleys, we arrive at Piazza Duomo.
The square shines because of the limestone from which it was made.
Around it are concentrated the most important buildings of the city.
The guide will explain the history and peculiarities of Syracuse Cathedral and the Church of Santa Lucia alla Badia, Palazzo Vermexio and Palazzo Beneventano.
Leaving the square, the tour will continue to the sea to discover the myths of the Arethusa Fountain.
The tour finally ends on the seafront towards the road back to the starting point through a route through the alleys of Giudecca or Spirduta and the churches of San Giovannello or San Pietro.

The guided tour of Ortigia lasts about 2-3 hours.
The itinerary can be customized by adding additional places to visit in the immediate vicinity of Ortigia such as the church of Santa Lucia della Badia, which houses the works of Caravaggio.
Possibility of longer half-day or full-day tours.
For example, it is also possible to include a visit to Maniace Castle or Bellomo Gallery, Neapolis Park, the Sanctuary, the museum or the catacombs.
